Maury Chaykin

Biography

Maury Chaykin (July 27, 1949 - July 27, 2010) was an American-Canadian actor known for performances on both the stage and screen. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Chaykin moved to Toronto, Canada in 1974 after studying acting at the University of Buffalo. Throughout his career, Chaykin worked extensively in both Canada and the United States. He appeared in notable films such as Dances with Wolves (1990), My Cousin Vinny (1992), The Sweet Hereafter (1997), Owning Mahowny (2003), and Being Julia (2004). Chaykin's performances often garnered critical acclaim and earned him awards and nominations, including several Genie Awards. On television, Chaykin showcased his versatility in a wide range of roles. He appeared in numerous acclaimed series, including Entourage, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and most notably Nero Wolfe Mysteries (2001 - 2002), in which he played the titular role. Maury Chaykin passed away on July 27, 2010, on his 61st birthday.
